Optional visit statistics

If you choose Allow statistics, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand visits, popular lessons, traffic sources and the time visitors actively spend on the site. This also applies to the Android beta app when it opens our web lessons. Refusing statistics does not limit learning. With consent, we also measure coarse actions: starting a lesson, confirming study, successfully saving a quiz or review, following the next-lesson link, and a broad save-failure category, together with interface and learning languages. Each action is recorded at most once per lesson page visit. A saved quiz event does not mean a correct score or course completion. AI conversation events include the practice level, never conversation text.

Google processes page paths and titles, the referring website’s origin, event times, browser and device information, language, approximate location and a pseudonymous browser identifier. Our integration removes query strings and fragments from the page address sent to Analytics, and removes paths and query strings from the referrer. We do not send names, email addresses, guest-learning identifiers, saved learning histories, scores, quiz answers, drawings or voice recordings to Analytics. Google Signals and advertising personalization are disabled for this integration.

The Analytics script is loaded only after consent. The separate analytics preference is stored in this browser for up to 180 days; Analytics cookies are configured with a maximum lifetime of 180 days without renewing that lifetime on each visit. Use Analytics choices in the page footer to change your preference. Withdrawing consent stops future Analytics requests from this integration and removes its Analytics cookies. It does not remove previously collected statistics or delete your learning data. Google’s service retention settings apply to previously collected information; aggregated reports may be retained separately.

Statistics reports are restricted to the operator’s Google Analytics account. Google processes analytics information as a service provider, and information may be processed outside your country. Advertising and cookie choices

HangulHada is free to use. Google AdSense is configured to display one advertisement between course introductions and lesson lists, or below a successful translation, on hangulhada.com, subject to Google approval and ad availability. Ad loading starts when its position approaches the viewport; the privacy page loads consent services so you can manage choices. The language chooser, lessons, quizzes, voice recording, practice and progress pages do not load our advertising integration. We do not require an ad click or video view to study.

On eligible course-list pages, the translator after a successful translation, and this privacy page, Google’s advertising and consent services may receive your IP address, browser and device information, page URL and advertising interactions. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar identifiers for advertising, measurement and fraud prevention, depending on your choices and applicable regional requirements. Ads may be personalized, non-personalized or limited. We do not send your learning records, account identifier, quiz answers or practice recordings as advertising parameters. Advertising providers have their own retention practices; deleting learning records does not erase their cookies or records.

A published Google consent message is required for applicable advertising in the EEA, UK and Switzerland. When available, it provides Consent, Do not consent and Manage options. Use the control below to revisit available Google consent choices. Availability depends on your region and browser. Blocking advertising does not block learning. You can also remove cookies using your browser controls; removing the separate learning cookie affects guest-progress access.

Google privacy choices require an internet connection and available Google services on hangulhada.com.

AI English conversation practice

Updated 27 September 2026. Sending a message submits your selected level, topic and recent conversation to OpenAI to generate an English reply, a Korean translation and learning feedback. This is text practice, not live voice calling, a proficiency examination or automatic pronunciation scoring. Do not enter personal or confidential information.

HangulHada does not persist conversation text. It stays in page memory until reset or navigation. The server stores a hashed browser identifier, date and request identifier for usage limits; entries older than six days are removed when new requests are processed. Conversation shares the existing translation and AI-listening request budget. Failed provider requests may consume an allowance. Requests use store:false; OpenAI may retain data for security and abuse monitoring under its own policies. See OpenAI data controls.

With optional statistics consent, we measure conversation opens, successful replies and limit notices with the selected level and target language. Topics, messages, corrections, transcripts and account identifiers are not sent to Analytics. Without consent, these Analytics events are not sent. Device listening uses your browser or operating system speech service, whose network and retention policies may apply.

Text and photo translation

When you press Translate, your text or resized photo is sent to OpenAI to recognize text and translate it. HangulHada does not save translation content, results or images. The API request disables response storage; provider security retention may still apply. See OpenAI data controls. Avoid uploading sensitive documents.

To limit usage, we retain a hashed browser identifier, request identifier and UTC date until cleanup on the next translation request after seven UTC dates. No translation text or image is included in these records. Browser speech may use an online voice service provided by your device. If unavailable, Listen sends up to 1,000 characters of the translation to OpenAI for AI-generated speech. Audio is kept only in the current page memory, and AI speech requests share the daily translation limit.

Read text aloud

The separate Read aloud tab sends up to 500 characters to OpenAI only when you press Make audio. The voice is AI-generated. Text and audio are not saved to HangulHada databases or object storage. Up to five generated clips are kept in the current page memory for replay, including slower playback. They are removed when the page is left or refreshed. Provider retention may apply; see OpenAI data controls.

For abuse prevention and cost limits, we store only a request ID, Korea calendar date, character count and a monthly-rotating hash of the browser cookie. These records contain no input text, audio or account ID and are removed on a later request after 35 days. This tool has a separate five-request daily browser limit and site-wide daily and monthly generation limits. Requested generations may remain counted after failures or cancellation. Translation and lesson-audio quotas are unchanged.

Country stories: public contributions

Country stories is a public discussion space. Google sign-in is required to post, comment, mark helpful or report. We store your account identifier hash, chosen nickname, posts, comments, helpful marks, reports and photos in the site database and object storage. Your email is not displayed. A verified operator email is checked at sign-in; only a hash marking an authorized operator session is retained for moderation.

Posts, nicknames, photos and comments are public and may appear in search engines or link previews. Photos are resized before upload and JPEG metadata such as EXIF location is removed by our server. Do not upload personal information or images without permission. Reports and reporter account identifiers are not public. Posts are not automatically translated or sent to an AI service by this feature.

You can edit or delete your own posts and comments. Deleting a post removes its public content, comments and photos; deleting learning progress does not delete separate community contributions. Hidden posts and comments are retained for moderation, and operators can restore them. Deleted contributions are removed from active public access; hosting logs and backups follow provider retention. Daily anti-spam counters older than 35 days are removed when that account next contributes. For hidden comments or other data requests, contact ll146987@gmail.com. We verify ownership before acting.

Account deletion, rules and blocks

Contribution requires acceptance of the community rules. We store the accepted rule version and date, private block relationships and reports referring to content or its author. While signed in, blocked accounts do not see each other’s posts or comments; public content remains accessible when signed out.

Delete your HangulHada account at Account deletion. Active account learning data, community profile, contributions, photos, helpful marks, reports, blocks and login sessions are removed. Replies on your posts are also removed. Google accounts, separate guest-browser progress, hosting logs and provider backups are not deleted by this action. Hosting logs and backups follow provider retention. If photo deletion fails, a pending deletion record is retained until you retry; completion is not reported before cleanup finishes.

iOS Apple sign-in

When available in the iOS app, Apple sign-in uses an app-specific account identifier. We store its hash to link learning records and do not request your Apple name or email. An encrypted revocation credential is stored on the server so account deletion can revoke Apple authorization and remove the credential. Apple and Google records are separate and are not automatically merged. Deleting a HangulHada account does not delete your Apple account. Native reminder settings stay on your device. The initial iOS version includes no AdMob SDK or advertising ID collection and does not display the website advertising slots.

Daily learning, points and streaks

From 28 September 2026, marking lesson explanations/examples studied, or saving a fully correct quiz or review, records a study day. The study-complete action is learner-confirmed; quiz and review answers are graded by the server. We store a pseudonymous account or browser identifier, lesson identifier, server timestamp, calendar day and the time zone established at the first recorded study. This history powers daily goals, points, streaks, badges and voluntary recovery of yesterday. Visiting alone does not earn points. Past lesson history is not reconstructed into past study days.

Studying explanations/examples earns 5 points per lesson per day; the first fully correct quiz earns 7 points once per lesson; a subsequent fully correct recall review earns 3 points per lesson per day. These activities total at most 45 points per day. Fifty points can restore yesterday after studying today, when a preceding streak exists. Recovery dates remain distinct from actual study days and do not earn badges or points. Points have no cash or prize value. Guest records remain accessible through the same browser cookie. Signing in alone does not import guest records; the existing explicit import action merges records and removes duplicate lesson/day entries. The account time zone takes precedence and the points balance is recalculated from the merged days.

These records are included in learning-data export and removed with learning-data deletion or account deletion. Clearing browser cookies does not itself delete server records. Use the learning-data controls before clearing guest cookies. There is no public leaderboard.

Point unlocks and optional feedback

Learning points can unlock a forest theme (60 points), a plum theme (100 points), a golden companion frame (80 points), Book Cat (120 points), and Study Penguin (180 points). Hada is free. Unlocks have no cash value, cannot be transferred or refunded, and do not unlock or restrict lessons. Switching to an owned item is free. We save the item, points spent, unlock time and active theme/frame/character with your learning record. These are included in export, explicit guest import and learning/account deletion. Duplicate unlocks are merged once during import, and the balance is recomputed from merged activity and spending; overlapping activity may reduce the combined balance.

Learning sounds for correct answers, retries, completion and navigation are off by default. Your sound and companion-visibility choices are stored on this device. Short sounds are made in the browser without a speech or AI request. The illustrated companion is decorative and does not evaluate pronunciation.

Optional background music is off by default and starts after a user interaction. Music pauses during lesson speech, recording and hidden-page periods. Background-music and reduced-animation choices are stored on this device. Short musical sounds are synthesized locally without uploading data or making an audio-generation request. Reduced-motion device settings are respected. Celebrations do not award points or claim that learning was saved.

Reports are stored for troubleshooting and improvements. To request deletion, email ll146987@gmail.com with the reference number. Reports older than one year and temporary rate-limiting identifiers older than two days are deleted when processing new reports. The temporary digest changes daily; raw IP addresses are not stored.
