Mission 10 · Completing a day of travel in a foreign language

Look at the meaning first and say it, then check the answer and pronunciation. ฉัน is 'I' used by women or in close relationships. Men can use ผม in polite situations. Practice changing names and origin, and always add a polite ending appropriate to the situation. ขอ is used when requesting something. กลับบ้าน means to go home, and in the context of food ordering it can mean takeout. Women use ค่ะ instead of ครับ, which is used by men. เท่าไร means how much, เล็กกว่า means smaller. For women, end price or possibility questions with คะ, and requests or statements with ค่ะ. รถเมล์ means city bus, สนามบิน is airport, ตั๋ว means ticket. ลง means to get off. On buses with designated stops, don't ask to get off anywhere—confirm the drop-off location. ห้อง means room, หนังสือเดินทาง is passport. For reserved stays, say จองห้องไว้แล้ว.
